One of my favorite things about Paris are the fabulous desserts! So, during my most recent visit to this beautiful city, I decided to do a “Chocolate & Pastry Walking Tour” where we visited different sweet shops that specialize in chocolate, pastries & ice cream. I justified all the eating with the fact that at least we spent a few hours walking (even if it was just to get to the next site/shop. Ha!). What’s your favorite chocolate or pastry shop in Paris?

I’m headed to Paris in April – that sounds like a great tour!! Is there one pastry shop you would recommend as not to be missed?
You might want to check out Laduree. While it has become commercialized, they have the best macaroons! Laduree has several locations around Paris but I suggest the one on avenue des Champs Elysées. Have a fabulous time in Paris!!! BTW, if you like champagne, there is a boat tour down the Seine with champagne tastings 🙂
Great idea! Thanks for the tips 🙂 I’m really excited about the trip.
I’m excited for you!!! Have an awesome time. Can’t wait to read your blog post about it!
What chocolate tour did you do? I was wondering about your Paris Seine tour. Do you remember the company you used? Also have you used a Paris hop on hop off tour bus? I want to take one but I have heard mixed reviews about the ones in Paris. Also I am getting a little concerned about ordering food in Paris. I don’t know much French and I am trying to learn a little but I don’t to walk into some resturant and look like a stupid American because I think everyone knows English. 🙂 You know I can’t believe you don’t get hits on your blog.
Hi Jennifer! Thanks for the kind words. Girl, I don’t know why folks aren’t reading either 🙂 Ha!
This is the Chocolate & Pastry Tour I took (http://www.viator.com/tours/Paris/Paris-Chocolate-and-Pastry-Food-Tour/d479-3234PCT). I’ve not done the Hop On/Hop Off tour of Paris because it didn’t get great reviews. But I can HIGHLY recommend doing the Fat Tire Bike Tour! I’ve done the night bike tour TWICE (http://fattirebiketours.com/paris/tours/paris-night-bike)! It includes a cruise down the Seine with a few bottles of wine. So much fun!! I’ve been wanting to try the Champagne Tasting on a cruise down the Seine (http://www.viator.com/tours/Paris/Champagne-Tasting-on-a-Seine-River-Cruise/d479-3777CC).
Have you ever used a Rick Steves guidebook? If not, I highly recommend you purchase the one he has on Paris. It includes key phrases for ordering food in French. I’ve found that as long as you try to speak the language, people are very helpful! They will take pity on you 🙂 I haven’t had any issues ordering in restaurants but I usually take my iPhone so I can translate the menu (if an English one is not provided). You will be fine!
I also suggest a day trip to the Champagne region of France. It’s about 45 minutes from Paris and if you love the bubbly, it’s a perfect way to spend your day (http://internationaltravelchick.com/category/france/champagne-region/)!
