I’m an American expat splitting my time between London & Paris. What do I do? Well, I’m a lawyer, writer, adventurer, & travel aficionado! I usually have at least 5 things going on at a time. Right now, I’m still struggling to learn French, writing my travel memoir, developing tours, dabbling in stand-up comedy…all while doing my day job! While I’m extremely busy, I’m also extremely blessed.
I started my first “blog” in 2007 when I sent an email to all my friends detailing the craziness that happened to me during my first 24 hours in Italy. It was my first time overseas and I was instantly bitten by the travel bug! As I began to travel more, I decided to start blogging on a travel website as a way to share my adventures (and boy are there a lot). Due to the success of that and wanting to have a bit more creative control over the site, my blog has now morphed into International Travel Chick!
I have my quirks & am an adventure junkie. I figure you only live once so you might as well try everything you’ve ever dreamed of. I’ve done stand-up comedy to overcome my fear of public speaking, jumped out of a plane just because it looked freaking awesome, started taking pilot lessons because you never know when that will be useful…and am always on the lookout for my next thrill fix! My dream is to quit my corporate job and travel the world recording my adventures. There is so much to see & do!
A few things I love: traveling, writing, comedy, running (well, maybe not “love” it but I do it to try to keep the weight off), my iPad, champagne and my family.

Sooo proud of you!!
i’m attempting to learn italian right now too! i’ve been a couple times, i can’t get enough of the country (or traveling in general). great blog.
I know! Absolutely love Italy!!! And the language is so beautiful 🙂
You’re our first follower! Thank you!!! Loooove your blog, good theme too 😉 We have yet to learn a few things about design/layout – how to get a ‘home’ button on our page or how you got that photo slideshow feature going on (or is that only for ‘paid’ blogs?). Looks great, will also follow you!
Hugs, from one international travel chick to another 😉
Thank you and I look forward to reading your blog. I actually learned about the layout/design features from the WordPress tutorial & FAQ. There are a lot of widgets to use. I have the free theme and the slideshow can be done when you insert a “gallery” instead of individual pictures. Hope this helps!
Yes it does! Thanks, we’ll look into that tutorial. I noticed Australia isn’t on your list yet… I’m going there in December, so will be posting some food facts from OZ i’m sure! x
Actually, I am trying to go to Australia next year. I cannot wait to read about your trip in December! You can inspire me 🙂
Hi Nikki! Nice to “meet” you… should I write my comments in Italian? 😉
Ciao Marta! È piacevole incontrarla come bene! I need someone to practice my Italian with 🙂

Yes, well I suppose I haven’t yet perfected the art of a compliment. Could partially explain why I’m still single at age 35, although I think there are many factors for that.
Let me start over: You have nice hair and a great font selection for your blog. Cheers!
LOL…that is awesome! I’ve never received that type of compliment before 🙂 Your blog entertains me so much!!! Looking forward to reading more posts.
Well, you probably receive many compliments, no doubt. Figured I’d give ya an original one. But seriously, what font is that for your header? It’s incredibly sexy and sophisticated. No, I’m joking. It is a nice font, but I don’t want to trouble you for any more of your time, answering dimwits about font selections.
Well, thanks for reading. Enjoy your evening.
Well, the font is really sexy…almost a little too hot for WordPress 🙂
Nikki,
I’m writing about the Paris-Versailles Classic for a US running magazine. Your account of the race and I was wondering if you would be willing to share a quote for the article. Please send me an email if so and I’ll give you some more details. Many thanks!
Sure, Allison! Thanks for asking 🙂
All those brains and beauty to go along with it, too. Thanks for stopping by my blog. It led me to yours. Cool, well go jump off a cliff or something! Nice to have virtually met.

Ha! Um, thanks??

*Sorry for accidentally posting this under Allison’s comment. I truly am a dimwit. I haven’t even started drinking yet tonight.

Hello Nikki. My name is Alex.
I would like to publish a sponsored post (with one link) on your great blog. Could you please give me the price for the placement of it?
Hi Alex! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Why don’t you email me the details of the sponsored post at internationaltravelchick@aol.com? Thanks!
Great blog! I look forward to following your travels. Your Insta pictures are amazing.
Thank you so much, Alexandra!! I am so happy you stopped by to show my blog some love 🙂
Nikki, loving your work here on this blog! I just resigned as a Captain in the Army a few months ago and decided to blog about this transitional time in my life. I want my focus to be people taking charge of their lives through Health, Fitness, and of course Travel. Is that too broad? Also how long did it take for your blog to go from an email series to a professional award nominated blog?
Thanks so much! Happy Travels!
Shamar
Hi Shamar,
I apologize for my delayed response…I took a sabbatical from writing for a few months. Congrats on the new phase in your life!! How exciting! For me, health & fitness are part of travel so I don’t think it is too broad. Especially if you aren’t traveling all the time…the health & fitness part keep you with plenty to blog about on a regular basis.
Honestly, there are so many blog platforms now than back in 2007 when I first started emailing that the timeframe is irrelevant. I didn’t even know about blogs back then! I just started sending emails of the crazy stuff that was happening. Once I decided to make it more formal, it was all about finding the right platform/host. I started out blogging on Traveller’s Point then migrated over to WordPress to have more control over the look/design of my site.
I wish you the very best of luck with your blog. Let me know when you have it set up so I can follow you! I think the most important thing about a blog is being true to yourself and writing about what you are passionate about. Everything else will fall into place 🙂 Good luck and happy writing!
Nikki,
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. My blog is called the MiniAdventuress at shamarswhite.com
I want to add a list of my favorite blogs that people see when they read my post but I am not sure how to do that besides making a separate page or actually blogging about it. Oh so much to learn still.
Omg, sorry couldn’t keep from expletives! I absolutely love your blog and your style, and this is like a 2nd review I ever left on a blog(I am bad this way). Shame on me, being 3d time in Morocco, I learned so much from your immensely entertaining moroccan posts. My husband is from Morocco and we come here to visit family, And I completely agree with your info regarding travellin with parents (last time I bourght mine here, i wish I read your post before that, haha)
I will keep reading and may be sometimes you will inspire me to start my own blog
